The 2011 Convention will be held October 7 & 8 at the Taylor Road Baptist Church in Montgomery, Alabama.

The church is located at 1685 Taylor Road, Montgomery, Al  36117. Take Exit 9 off I-85 and go south. The church can be seen as soon as you turn onto Taylor Road.    Click here for a map to the convention.

This year the convention will be held in the same facility as 2009 and 2010. This location is fantastic.  It is a large, new meeting facility.  There is  more room than ever before with room to grow.  Damon has a great lineup of speakers and is working on getting other.    Please check back here as plans shape up for the latest developments.

The list of speakers is still in the development stage but to date we have the following committed: Kim Flottum who is the editor of Bee Culture, Dr. Clarence Collison from Mississippi, Elmore Herman of Miller Bees, Dr. Tew and Sherry Ferrell from Ohio.  Besides all of these great speakers, we are going to have several members of the Alabama Beekeepers who will be doing workshops.   We are planning to have the exam for the Apprentice Level as they start working towards the level of Alabama Master Beekeeper.

There will be topics for everyone whether you are an experienced beekeeper, beginning beekeeper, or non-beekeepers.  There will be plenty to eat and plenty to do, plus the fellowship will be great.

The following suppliers will be at the convention delivering "pre ordered" supplies and each one will set up booths offering their standard products for sale.

  • Fred Rossman (Rossman Apiaries)

  • Earl King (The Walter T. Kelley Co.)

  • The Latners (Dadant)

  • Candy Treadaway and Wendy Pearson (Brushy Mountain Bee Farm)

  • Arlene Samford (the lady with the bee paraphernalia)

  • Bert & Dawn Massey (A&M Bees & Embroidery)

  • Dave Miller  is bringing his "Beetlejail"

  • Craig Funderburg (The Edge Embroidery)    Craig has made the ABA Caps and Embroirdered shirts for the last several years for us.

Orders placed with attending suppliers will be delivered to the convention with no shipping charge (you must be there to pick them up or arrange to have someone pick them up).    Place your orders timely and request delivery at the Alabama Beekeepers Association annual convention.    Their trucks and trailers fill up pretty fast and once full, no more orders can be taken from that supplier for the 2011 convention delivery so be sure and place your order as early as possible.  Check your normal delivery costs, it may be that your convention delivery savings will cover your convention expenses!

Damon is working on more suppliers so this list of attending suppliers is growing daily.    Be sure and check back here for updates.

Make your plans now to attend.  You do not want to miss this meeting.  We will have another “Beekeeper of the Year” award.  This year we will have 3 main door prizes and one Grand Prize as follows:
